Recent Concerts – Alessio Bax and Lucille Chung – The Magic of Piano 4-Hands

The real-life marriage of concert pianists Alessio Bax and Lucille Chung, with their abundant artistic chemistry, passion, and stunning virtuosity, has led to one of the most appealing and impressive piano duos of our time. Their delightful program celebrates the art of Piano 4-hands, one of the most intimate and romantic forms of chamber music.

On February 16, 2025, they performed fascinating and varied examples by Debussy, Ligeti, and Schubert, whose F minor Sonata is perhaps the most popular work of the genre. The genre also lends itself perfectly to arranging, and we heard György Kurtag’s four-hand take on Bach, and the duo’s own version of three tangos by Astor Piazzolla.
